Coulrophobia

So, ha, after however many months of not updating this, here we are... A portrait of John Wayne Gacy, Jr. He lived in Chicago in the seventies, and killed dozens of young men, hiding their bodies in his attic, crawl space, garage, or when space was short, dumping them in the river. He also had a disturbing habit of dressing up as "Pogo the Clown" and performing at children's birthday parties.

I'm fairly certain he has no soul, hence the blank eyes.

Acrylic on un-gesso'd canvas, which was an adventure for me, one which I'd like to repeat. Too bad it will probably deteriorate in a couple of years and I'll cry myself to sleep.

The sketch I did for this painting was a much, much better likeness, but I'm pleased with the result all the same.
